According to the statistics of Vietnam Leather, Footwear and Handbag Association (LEFASO), Vietnam’s footwear exports reached approximately 9 billion USD in the first half of 2019, a year-on-year increase of 14 percent, and ranking second in the world after China. At the same time, the signatures of EVFTA and CPTPP have brought tremendous benefits for Vietnam footwear industry. The new agreements will promote further economic development and reinforce trade and investment of footwear industry in Vietnam.
With the outbreak of COVID-19, the development of Vietnamese Footwear Industry faces many opportunities and challenges, such as the influence of limited orders and labor, the bankrupted of SME, how to revive the industry and to catch new opportunities from new trade policies. Changing supply chain of global footwear industry in the era of COVID-19 and impact of trade policies is going to be the main topic for us to discuss in this Summit.
